ABSTRACT
Introduction: the adnexal tumors are a frequent and important gynecologic pathology, thus, its clinical value.
Objective: to determine the presence of adnexal tumors taking into account some clinical and epidemiological features.
Methods: a longitudinal and descriptive study was conducted from January 1, 2008 to January 1, 2010 in a group of women diagnosed with adnexal mass, to assess some clinical and epidemiological features including age, location, and family history of adnexal cancer as well as obstetrics. Sample included 92 patients.
Results: the abdominal pain and the palpable mass were the more frequent clinical findings, the great number of cases with adnexal masses corresponded to the 35 _ 59 age-group with 46 patients for a 49.9 %, the family history of adnexal cancer was observed in 13 patients (14.1 %) with predominance in above mentioned ages (9.7 %), most oa adnexal masses occurred in 43 multipara (46.7 %). Adnexal masses were more frequent in the left ovarium, accounting for 59.7 % of cases.
Conclusions: there was predominance of adnexal tumor in patients of fertile age, multipara and pre-menopause, the family history of cancer in the adnexal region is a significant factor to take into account.
