ABSTRACT
Intestinal endometriosis is rare cause acute of abdominal syndrome; implantation includes: small intestine, epiplon, and colon. The most frequent sites are rectum and rectosigmoid (88%), and the less frequent are the appendix (9%).
Endometriosis produces a sclerosing reaction in the intestinal pariete and this causes an intraluminal narrowing.
We show the frequency of appendicular endometriosis, such as etiology abdominal acute syndrome for general surgeons.
Case 1. Female of 30 years of age, with dysmenorrhoea and acute abdominal syndrome localized in the right iliac fosse, and fever, and frank appendicular data, leukocytosis with small intestine loops and hydroaerial levels. We conducted as appendectomy with a histopathologic report of endometriosis, with later treatment with danazol.
Case 2. Female of 20 years of age, eumenorrhoea with abdominal pain in the right iliac fosse with positive appendicular data, leukocytosis, and neutrophilia. We conducted an appendectomy and right salpingectomy with treatment after surgery with danazol.
The frequency of endometriosis appendicular like etiology of acute appendicitis it find in just two cases in a time of five years.
We recommend the carrying out of an incidental appendectomy in women with abdominal acute pain in the right lower quadrant. Among its less frequents causes is endometriosis.
Intestinal endometriosis may be present in two clinical manifestations; the more common is a chronic disease, the second and the more rare is an acute surgery disease, that requires immediate resolution.
