ABSTRACT
Acute appendicitis is the most common non-obstetric surgical pathology during pregnancy. Physiological and anatomical changes of pregnancy can affect the body’s response and clinical presentation of the disease, making diagnosis more difficult, where the clinical suspicion, appropriate clinical history and a good physical examination are the main diagnostic tools. We can use laboratory and cabinet tests to support the diagnosis but should not delay definitive surgical treatment because acute appendicitis during pregnancy has a worse maternal and fetal prognosis if it is complicated with perforation and peritonitis.
