ABSTRACT
Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is a new entity, where the highest incidence is in relation to the use of intravenous bisphosphonates. The three most common pathophysiologic mechanisms are postulated: remodeling suppression, abnormal angiogenesis and infection. The aim of this article is to review current recommendations for diagnosis and treatment of this disease so little known and rare, but important impact on patient health.
