ABSTRACT
We know that the immune system is the first line of defense against invading pathogens and its accurate functioning is
essential for life. Current evidences show that immune and central nervous systems interact to modulate inflammation
through common humoral and neural pathways. This research presents the recent findings of the neuroimmune interaction,
the description of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway and the clinical perspectives of new therapies in medicine
based on the knowledge of the neuroimmune fuction, the effects of vagotomy in animals and humans and the perspectives
of this technique in the study of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway.
