ABSTRACT
Objective: Evaluate the incidence and the risk factors of urinary tract injury during different types of hysterectomies (vaginal, abdominal, laparoscopic and obstetric).
Methods: Retrospective study including patients with hysterectomy with benign pathology and obstetric causes, excluding those with malignant pathology. The indications, patients characteristics and complications were recorded. Descriptive and bivariate statistics were used.
Results: The incidence of urinary tract injury was 5.7% (n = 30) with vesical injury of 4.17%. The time and intraoperative bleeding showed significant statistical difference in those patients with urinary tract lesion.
Conclusions: The rate of urinary tract injuries during hysterectomy were similar to those reported in the literature and the most frequently observed in this study, was the vesical injury.
