Organizational stress and psychosocial factors at work associated with mental health in primary care workers

ABSTRACT
Objective: To establish the association between organizational stress and psychosocial factors to mental health care workers.
Methodology: Cross-sectional analytical, applied 3 instruments: organizational job stress, psychosocial work factors and general health of Goldberg. The first two-dimensional scale of 25 items exploring organizational conditions of structure, cohesion and group support. The second, 39 items, 4 dimensions: workplace conditions, social interaction and organizational aspects, workload and content and features of the task. The third, 60 items, possible values mental disturbances. These instruments have a Cronbach alpha of 0.92, 0.88 and 0.87, respectively. 2, considering significant
p ‹ 0.05.
Results: We found low job stress in non-mental health cases with 66% and 34% in cases [OR 4.60 (95% CI 1.71-12.60)]. Social interaction and organizational aspects presents significant association (
p ‹ 0.05) with organizational stress and mental health, anti workload was not associated with any of the variables.
Conclusions: A relationship between organizational conditions and 3 of 4 factors in the psychosocial dimensions of the task content, site conditions and organizational social interaction. Administrative processes, one associated with workplace conditions and organizational social interaction. Organizational work stress has a ratio of 4 times more likely to present mental health disorders who are reported as a case that those who are not.
