ABSTRACT
In 1998, Dubernard and his great team successfully performed the first hand transplant representing the renaissance of a surgical specialty up to then, scarcely explored due to poor results. Since then, the world has experienced a great boom in the field of composite tissue allotransplants. It has been thirteen years from that achievement and due to the emerging interest in the topic in the Mexican medical community; we have decided to present the story that could possibly inspire the surgeons to materialize a dream.
