ABSTRACT

Dumping syndrome, corresponds a varied of gastrointestinal and systemic symptoms that results from secondary alterations seen after gastric resection and the loss of the gastric reservoir function. Clinically manifests as early dumping (intestinal distention and systemic hypotension) and late dumping (reactive hypoglycemia). Diagnosis based on clinical presentation and with provocative glucose test to confirm it. Treatment corresponds mainly upon diet modifications, with especial importance on education and changes in eating habits. Eventually could require more aggressive approaches from medical sources to surgical procedures.
