ABSTRACT
Introduction. Postoperative pain after a total abdominal hysterectomy has a many causes.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the administration of continuos epidural infusion of ropivacaine/fentanyl (experimental group) versus ropivacaine/fentanyl in bolus on pain scores and side effects..
Methods and material. Clinic controlled assay of patients undergoing a total abdominal hysterectomy. The pain evaluation was with visual analog score (VAS). We used stadistic analysis for non parametric groups with significance 0.05.
Results. A total of 30 patients were included, in two groups of 15. In the experimental group the pain was less at 6,12,18 hr (p=0.001, 0.001 y 0.020) in comparision with control group. There were not differences in hemodinamic variables neither on side effects. In conclusion the epidural infusion of ropivacaine/fentanyl apper to be better than bolus administration. Is advisable to increase the sample.
