ABSTRACT
Background: Off-pump myocardial revascularization is a low morbidity procedure for treatment of ischemic heart disease. The objective of this work was to present the results of our group with this surgical procedure.
Material and methods: Between January 1, 1997 and August 16, 2002 166 patients were selected for off-pump myocardial revascularization. A total of 3.6% was converted to conventional myocardial revascularization.
Results: There were 160 patients (131 males and 29 females) with mean age of 60.9 years (range 40-77) with mean left ventricle ejection fraction of 47.5%. Aorto-coronary bypass mean was 2.1 per patient. Anterior descending artery was the most frequently revascularizated vessel (n = 158). There were intraoperative arrhythmia’s in 2.5% of patients, the same proportion for perioperative myocardial infarction. Two patients were reoperated on for excessive bleeding (1.25%) and three patients died.
Discussion:We conclude that off-pump myocardial revascularization was effective, low-morbidity procedure in our case group.
