ABSTRACT
Objective. In this of three trails on arterial hypertension, we search3ed for data that will permit the development of preventive strategies, starting from the analysis of prevalence in individuals with isolate diastolic hypertension (PAHAD).
Material and methods. We found after studying more than twelve thousand persons at work, home or school that PA-HAD.
Results. PA-HAD was: a) the most frequent variety; b) it is mot frequently found un both genders under 15 years old; c) it may related with their physical development, height in this case having a small but significant influence, independent of body mass (OR 1.03, IC 95%, 1,01-1.04); d) risk raises with body mass quintiles being significance from de third quintile on, even though mass body influence is less en PA-HAS (arterial pressure in compatible laves with the criterion of systole and diastolic hypertension; e) it has a prevalence that remains under 15% and tends to diminish in elder groups; f) men have a double risk than women; g) weight control regaining at early ages is the only effective preventive strategy for there was no connection with tabaco or sport; h) It is in this type of hypertensions in which we observe a mayor deference between individuals under go years of age with a without risk factors.
Conclusions. In these three trails the evidence that de types id hypertension are different entities related to different process, with regional variations and with limited possibilities in prevention, being necessary further research.
