ABSTRACT
The negativism behavior in the elderly with mental illness is not infrequent, but still unknown its origin, phenomenology and treatment. In general, this behavior is described because of its clinical manifestations in an interpretative way as a regressive behavior. The regressive behavior in children is well explained in the literature, but not in the older people, that it’s not always produced by the same mechanism. This article try to explain some of the possible reasons, related to the regressive behavior in the elderly, common in the clinical practice.
