Frequency of neuropathic pain in patients suffering from musculoskeletal lesions

ABSTRACT
Pain is a common symptom in patients admitted to hospitals and orthopedic trauma, is often unknown type and magnitude of this painful syndrome.
Objective: Identify the type of pain syndromes in hospitalized patients with musculoskeletal injuries.
Methodology: Through an observational, transversal, prospective, interviewed 418 patients hospitalized with musculoskeletal conditions to which I apply them Lanns questionnaire, evaluating the severity, characteristics and type of pain, and psycho-emotional impact on daily life.
Results: Of the sample 55.3% were female and 44.6% male, mean age 53.35 years. Pain intensity VAS was 5.33 ± 2.33 and mild pain EVER as 24.4%, moderate 40.4% and 35.2% severe. Somatic nociceptive pain 80.38%, 1.60% visceral nociceptive, neuropathic 0.95%, mixed 16.98%. With sleep disorders 46.5%, 56.6% and psycho Involvement Co-morbidities 36.4%.
Conclusions: Patients admitted with moderate to severe pain and other pain, chronic disease caused by many different causes of income generating sleep disorders, mental and emotional involvement with severe interference in activities of daily life and various comorbidities complicating the evolution and treatment.
