ABSTRACT
Cosmetic breast surgery is an important part of the clinical practice of plastic and reconstructive surgeons. It increased as restrictions on the use of mammary prosthesis for cosmetic purposes were withdrawn. The frequency of breast cancer has increased substantially in the world and is alarming in the developing countries, such as ours. It should also be considered that not malignant breast disease occurs in a high proportion of patients who are or will be undergoing cosmetic procedures, since the age surgeries are performed ranges from adolescence to maturity. The early diagnosis of breast cancer should be performed by means of image, particularly mammography, allowing early detection. To be helped by other studies of image, accurate diagnoses of pathology that occurs or concurs in the breast is achieved, before or after mammary cosmetic procedures, as well as of their complications and sequelae. The experience of 27,875 mammographies and analysis of their results are presented.
