Primitive neuroectodermal tumor in adult chest wall: a single case presentation

ABSTRACT

The primitive neuroectodermal tumor of the chest wall, also called Askin tumor, is a rare neoplasm. Affects mostly children and adolescents. In the literature have been described only few cases in adult patients. We report a 40 years old woman with thoracic pain and dyspnea. By contrasted TC was identified a single solid tumor, in the later region of left hemithorax, from extrapulmonary and intrapleural location. The tumor was carried out by resection, lobectomy and resection of lingular segment, as well as partial resection of ipsilateral ribs. It was concluded, by pathological anatomy and immunohistochemistry, that it was a primitive neuroectodermal tumor of the chest wall.
