ABSTRACT
Objective: Determining sensibility and specificity in the diagnosis of biliary tract obstruction through magnetic resonance in HChMAE during the period of January 2007- July 2009.
Material and methods: A sample size was estimated, which was calculated on the basis of diagnostic test design, once a two ends - margin of error of 5 % was based on, giving a result of 73 patients. The type of sampling is non- probabilistic, information was obtained by means of clinical files and they included all the patients to whom colangioresonance and endoscopic retrograde colangiopancreatography was performed during January 1, 2007 to July 2009, taking this last as the gold standard.
Results: Colangioresonance showed a high sensibility, so much for dilatation of biliary tract, choledocholithiasis; and filling failure over 90%. However, in specificity, a minor percentage for the three aforementioned parameters was obtained.
Conclusion: Any one of the two techniques so much the resonance like the endoscopic cholangiopancreatography can be used by way of initial diagnosis test. Depending on the availability of the equipment and the ability of the operator, the cholangiopancreatography through MR can be preferable for being non invasive and to be less operator-dependent.
