Temporal prefabricated flap in auricular reconstruction

ABSTRACT
In the auricular reconstruction the cutaneous covering was traditionally limited to the employment of local graft and cutaneous flaps that proved to be aesthetically faulty in many cases. The coming of microsurgery, tissue expansion and recently prefabricated flaps have diversified the options in reconstruction protocols. This study evaluates the employment of an axial piece of skin prefabricated on the superficial temporal fascia for auricular reconstruction. Ten patients ages between 7 and 24 years old with a diagnostic of microtia and constrained ear were included, six with cartilaginous mark, four with high density microporose polietilene frame, five in primary reconstruction and five secondary, with a follow-up of between 10 and 358 days. A graft was obtained for enough cutaneous covering and of good quality with a simple technique, good aesthetic results and scarce morbidity.
