ABSTRACT
Objectives: Evaluating the analgesic efficacy of diclofenac and parecoxib sodium in the control of the postoperative pain of patients audited of orthopedic surgery.
Material and methods: A prospective study was accomplished, aleatory and blind look-alike in 82 patients submitted to orthopedic surgery at the Hospital «Guillermo Luis Fernández Hernández Baquero», Holguín, Cuba, since september to may of 2010 whose ages oscillated between 18 and 55 years. Divided in two groups of 41 each one. Group I: diclofenac 75 mg and Group II: parecoxib sodium 40 mg, intravenous, 30 minutes before intervention. We applied general anesthesia orotraqueal and systolic blood pressure, heart rate and mean arterial pressure in several stages of the anesthetic act were registered: basal, trans-operative, and first minutes of the aftercare as well as the adverse effects more frequent. We measured the intensity of the pain in the aftercare through the Visual Analogous Scale.
Results: Good analgesia with both pharmaceuticals in the aftercare was obtained, but he did not find statistically significant difference among themselves (p = 0.06).
Conclusions: We found excellent evolution of the pain in both groups. The adverse effects that showed up were epigastralgias in 7.3 patient % where managed him diclofenac, nausea in 14.6 patient % of the Group I and 4.8% in the Group II; vomiting in 21.9 patient % of the Group I and 2.4% patient in the Group II.
