ABSTRACT
Introduction: The great majority of the muscular pathology is of traumatic origin and it is related with the sport activity. Around 30% of the lesions in athletes affect the muscles. In the last years there has been an important progress in the diagnosis of these lesions, especially the ultrasound and magnetic resonance.Objective: To carry out a revision of the clinical presentation, of findings in ultrasound and of a useful ecographic classification in the daily practice on the muscle strains.
Material and methods: Because a growing demand of patients who go to study with suspicion of muscle strain exists and due to the importance of establishing a diagnosis and opportune treatment, the existent bibliography was consulted on this type of muscular dysfunctions.
Conclusion: The ultrasonographic study of muscle strains is a viable method due to its high availability and low cost. Diagnostic method that eases the doctor’s opportune and good intervention, which impacts in a prompt recovery of the patients.
