ABSTRACT
Introduction: An alternative treatment for patients with uterine myomatosis or vascular abnormalities is the embolization of the uterine artery (UAE). Pain is the most common secondary effect after an UAE, during the first hours after the embolization, ischemia areas and infarction in the uterine fibroids or tissue are shown, that is the reason of a severe pain in most of the patients.
Handling vascular pain: AINEs are cyclooxigenase inhibitors COX, which are good opioid- relievers in the treatment of the acute post-surgery pain.
Conclusions: The integral handling of pain beginning with the preventive handling, continuing with said handling during the embolization procedure and concluding with the treatment afterwards, is one of the success milestones in this type of minimum invasion procedures.
