ABSTRACT
The rotavirus is the most important agent cause of high morbidity and mortality in children under 2 years of age. Live-attenuated human rotavirus vaccine has an efficacy in decreasing severe diarrhea, especially in children younger than two years, in who the rotavirus has a great prevalence. The introduction of rotavirus vaccine in the national immunization program has caused an important reduction in diarrhea-related mortality rate, however, in severely malnourished infants efficacy may be diminished.
