ABSTRACT
The detection of the fecal hemoglobin is important for the diagnosis of patients in which low intestinal bleeding is suspected and it is the only practical method for the screening of the colo-rectal cancer in the asymptomatic population. The technique of latex agglutination in slides based on the antigen-antibody reaction constitutes a good option since it is a quick, specific methodology and easy to perform for what we trace ourselves as objective the development of a reagent able to carry out this function RapiLat-Hemo (latex particles recovered with specific antibodies against Human Hemoglobin, Hbh, and with a detection limit of 1 µg Hbh/mL). They were carried out studies corresponding to the functionality, stability of the product as well as the evaluation of its behavior, in the National Institute of Gastroenterology of Cuba, in a sample of 161 patients. The reagent showed, an excellent agreement (0,99) when comparing it with the reference method SPIN-FOB through the index kappa. The method was characterized by a clinical sensibility of 100% and a specificity of 99,3%, with predictive values of 96% for the positive one and a predictive negative value of 100%. The precision of the test was characterized through the determination of the gray area with a value of 0,6 µg/mL. The diagnostic reagent developed fulfilled the established requirements for its sanitary registration and comercialization, also, it constitutes a valuable methodology for the clinical laboratory in the detection of the colo-rectal cancer.
