ABSTRACT
Congenital Pseudoartrosis of the Tibia (PCT) is a difficult treatment condition that has always been one of the most unpredictable challenges in the Pediatric Orthopaedic practice, we offer a different therapeutic option against this pathology, with a Coleman and Petersen Modified Surgical technique, and we applied the technique prospectively to 10 children (7 males, 3 females), 8 of the patients had previous multiple surgeries not concerned about the present technique. We had consolidation in all the cases clinically and radiologically, with an evolution from 4,5 to 10,5 years; 4 patients needed re – implantation of massive bone graft “in Situ” for the final stage of consolidation, once consolidated we had sequels such as 4 cases of bowing of the tibia, 4 cases of valgus of the ankle, 1 local sepsis, 10 tibial shortenings (1,5 to 10 cm), and 1 Transitory Neurologic palsy of Sciatic Popliteal Nerve, 2 had stiffness of the ankle. All had at last, one sequel once the bone was consolidated, those were surgically solved. No one had a fracture. We conclude that our technique is confident and have had optimal results in PCT.
