ABSTRACT
Purpose and Method of Study: to describe the relationship between psycho-social adaptation to pregnancy and state anxiety in primigravid low-risk obstetrics. The model used was the adaptation to pregnancy of Lederman and Spielberg anxiety. The design is descriptive and co relational. Two groups were formed: 100 in the second trimester. and 100 for the third. PSEQ instruments were used and the IDARE.
Contribution and Conclusions: There was a relationship between psychosocial adaptation to pregnancy and state anxiety (rs = .56, p ‹.01) correlation with income anxiety (rs = -. 20, p ‹.01) and education (rs = -. 25, p ‹.01) The psychosocial adjustment showed significant association with age (rs = -. 14, p ‹.05), income (rs = -. 267, p ‹.01) and education (rs = - 0.252, p ‹.01),
The primgravid who are most anxious have lower psychosocial adaptation to pregnancy. The low income, younger and have less education, were associated with less adaptive psychosocial. Less education, lower income and lower gestational age were associated with lower birth preparation. Model is verified by Lederman adaptation on the relationship of variables.
