ABSTRACT
Intraperitoneal bladder rupture is a common complication associated with external abdominal trauma. It is a definite surgical emergency that is conventionally managed with exploratory laparotomy in which there is 2-plane primary closure of the bladder, peritoneal wash and Foley catheter placement for drainage, either as a transurethral catheter or with cystostomy. Although this method is widely used by urologists, it results in additional trauma to the patient and a longer period of convalescence. The present report describes a case of intraperitoneal bladder rupture that was successfully managed with laparoscopic surgery.REFERENCES
