ABSTRACT
We are reporting a rare example of gastritis cystica polyposa developed in a 45 year-old man presenting with epigastric pain and melena. The lesion was recognized as a tumor while the endoscopy procedure but the final diagnosis was possible only after examination of the surgical specimen of partial gastrectomy. The polypoid mass contained cysts lined by foveolar and glandular epithelium arranged in the muscularis mucosae and submucosa in an organoid hamartomatous pattern. Gastritis cystica polyposa is more common at the sites of gastro-enteric anastomosis after partial gastrectomy although there are a few reports similar to ours, in patients without history of a surgical procedure.
