ABSTRACT
Background: Fournier’s gangrene requires an early diagnosis and an aggressive treatment in order to reduce its mortality.
Objective: We inform a case of Fournier’s gangrene in a patient with acute myeloblastic leukemia.
Matherial and methods: We present the case of a post bone marrow transplanted patient due to acute myeloblastic leukemia that presented with scrotal necrosis.
Results: Surgical debridment of the scrotal necrosis was performed with secondary closure with a flap rotation and free graft. The patient developed encephalopathy and died.
Discussion: Fournier’s gangrene is a disease with a high mortality rate.
Conclusion: Fournier’s gangrene requires early diagnosis, wide spread antibiotic treatment and early surgery.
