ABSTRACT
Introduction. Premalign lesions (PL) on the cervical uterine have aroused great interest since the beginning of the past century. Cullen was the first author to describe neoplasic cells limited to the cervix epithelium, later followed by Rubin.
Objetive. To find the frequency and concomitant factors of PL of the cervical uterine by means of the exploratory research of the cytological report of the program of cervical cancer (CC).
Method. A retrospective study of 55,424 cervical cytologies and the frequency of PL in the Pathological Anatomy Services at the State Cancerology Center
(Centro Estatal de Cancerología (CECAN) ), Health Services of Veracruz in Xalapa, Veracruz.
Results. In the cytological diagnosis, the inflammatory process was predominant in 85.73%, followed by 3.43% of PL and .08% of invaders. In 2.23% diagnosis was not possible due to inadequate sampling. Most of PL corresponds to the Sanitary Jurisdictions of Pánuco, Tuxpam, San Andrés Tuxtla and Xalapa.
Conclusions. The frequency of PL and CC of the evaluated SJ is inferior to the national mean. An inflammatory reaction occurred in more than 85% of the total of cytologies evaluated. A careful macroscopic evaluation of the cervix leads us to a diagnostic impression of the existence of invading cancer and infection in the inferior genital tracto. The Risk Factors found were: HPV infections, cervico-vaginal infections and use of hormonals. Age group 45 – 64 was the most vulnerable in the cases of PL and CC.
