ABSTRACT
Eyebrow reconstruction after a burn is difficult because of scarring, which limits circulation and integration of the hair grafts. The aim of this paper is to share the experience in the reconstruction of eyebrows with hair micrografts. Eleven burned eyebrows were reconstructed. Before surgery, with the patient seated, the area to rebuild was delimited, and above the lines arrow were drawn to show the direction that the implanted hairs should follow. The retroauricular area was chosen as a donor. Scalp strips were processed using 3X magnifiers to obtain follicular units. The recipient site was prepared making pinpoint incisions, with an inclination in the opposite direction, to where the arrows were pointing marking, 5 mm deep and 2-4 mm between each hole, with a scalpel blade number 11 was widened with a jeweler’s tweezers and micro hair grafts were placed using a hypodermic needle and the dissection clamps. In each session, between 60 to 130 follicular units were placed. The reconstruction of the eyebrow after a burn, with micro grafts hair, is a laborious procedure and requires several surgical stages; however, the appearance obtained is very similar to natural eyebrows.
