ABSTRACT
A descriptive, retrospective of transverse cut investigation on the correlation of viral load and the lymphocyte count CD4+ was carried out and their linking with sociodemographic variables in the patients with HIV-AIDS of the province of Sancti-Spíritus in the period studied from January 1st., 1989 to December 31th., 2008. The study universe was conformed by 287 cases with clinical epidemiological and laboratory criteria of HIV-AIDS and the sample were constituted by 82 patients. The study reflected that the biggest quantity in cases corresponded to the male sex (72%), they live in the municipality head (47.6%), and they possess a sexual orientation (64.6%) and it forms of contact (62.2%) in which they acquired the virus like homobisexual. Also, it was verified that the adolescent population and youth is the one from more exhibition to the epidemic and that the viral load in these patients was correlated inversely with the lymphocyte CD4+ levels.
