ABSTRACT

Background: In 1995 we published a paper about septal perforation with transposition perpendicular lamina of the etmoides.
Objective: To propose a modification to perpendicular lamina of etmoides transposition techique to do the flap rotation.
Patients and methods: A descriptive, longitudinal and prospective design was realized in two patients of the Unit of Otorrinolaringologia, SC, with diagnosis of previous septal perforation and treated by means of the modality in the closing of previous septal perforation with transposition perpendicular lamina of etmoides.
Results: The time of the disease’s evolution was: 23 ± 3 years. The diameter of the preoperative perforation was of 2.7 ± 0.3 cm, and postoperative was 0. When evaluating with test t of Student, we obtained an equal p to 0.030 to a tail.
Conclusions: The imagenologic measurement of the septal perforation was a useful resource to demonstrate it graphically and the postoperative photographic image gives validity to them, with the results obtained with the studied surgery because it demonstrates its effectiveness.
