ABSTRACT
Sepsis its complications are a major public health problem in the world. Tissue hypoperfusion as a result of peripheral vasodilatation, capillary leak syndrome, myocardial depression, activation of the coagulation cascade and release of proinflammatory cytokines are the basis for the development of multiple organ dysfunction and death. In this paper, the authors present an updated review of the pathophysiology, biomarkers and treatment focused attention on the Emergency Services.
