Prevalence of undernourishment, overweight and obesity in children of CENDI

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The under nourishment has like before immediate causes inadequate dietetic ingestion, infections and parasitism, poverty, and lack of services. Another form of nourishment low is the obesity.
Objectives: To determine the nutrition state, of suckling babies and preteens of the CENDI of the ISSSTE in Victoria City Tamaulipas.
Methodology: Cross-sectional study in the CENDI of the ISSSTE in Victoria City, Tamaulipas. One hundred and sixty nine children of five years or less was evaluated themselves. The stature determined according to techniques and international norms using portable stadimeter. The weight was registered by means of digital scale of high precision. The analysis of the variables included measures of central tendency and dispersion.
Results: 169 minors of 5 years studied, between suckling babies and preteens, finding that almost 70% of the total are young eutrofics, 14% have some degree of under nourishment, predominating the under nourishment of first degree and single 2 patients were of second degree. Patients with severe under nourishment did not register themselves. 11% of the minors are in overweight and 7% in obesity. Thus, the global prevalence of overweight/obesity for this group of children was of 18%. Significant differences according to the sort were not appraised.
Conclusions: The prevalence of obesity in that same group was of 7%. The global prevalence of overweight/obesity of these suckling babies and then pre-scholastic was in 18%.
