ABSTRACT
Any comprehensive medical treatment of systemically compromised children requires that the pediatric stomatologist identifi es any factor that might hinder or modify stomatologic procedures. We report the case of a 9-year old child who was being medicated with valproic acid (VPA). The patient suffered of quantitative and qualitative platelet alterations, and therefore had to receive replacement therapy prior to extraction of dental pieces. Any patient under anticonvulsant treatment must be thoroughly studied before any stomatologic procedure, in order to take necessary preventive actions.
