Gastric volvulus. Report of a case

ABSTRACT

Gastric volvulus is a rare entity, only 15-20% of the cases occur in this age group. There are reports in children from day one of life up to 15 years old. The aim of this paper is to present a rare case of gastric volvulus in a child, and review of the literature. Clinic case: We report the case of a 8 year old patient who developed a gastric volvulus in the consult of the pediatrician. The clinical features of an 8 years old masculine and the surgical treatment such as gastrectomy and esophageal sustitution were reviewed with a good outcome in one year and a half of follow up. Gastric volvulus is rare. Surgical intervention is indicated.
