ABSTRACT
Objective: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of EMD (MDE in Spanish) and BCPH (FCB) combined in the treatment of intrabony defects for periodontal regeneration.
Introduction: Periodontal disease is characterized by inflammation, gingival bleeding, attachment loss and formation of intrabony defects. The EMD promotes the proliferation, migration, adhesion and differentiation of cells associated with periodontal tissue health; reintegration is a cellular intrinsic fiber cementum on the root surface and may induce the formation of new mineralized connective tissue. Using the BCPH (FCB) we keep the space and a scaffold for repopulation differentiated cell.
Methodology: Patients were selected graduate Periodontics UAT with moderate to severe periodontal disease with vertical defects › 3 mm, radiographically visible, with 2 or 3 bony walls, unencumbered systemically, with good oral hygiene index. The study was conducted with four groups, which open and curettage was performed in some different biomaterials placement: 1) Without biomaterial, 2) EMD, 3) BCPH (FCB) and 4) EMD + BCPH (FCB). Initial measurements were taken and control at 6 months.
Results: At the end of the study was clinical and radiographic evaluation of all groups, demonstrating significant improvement in periodontal indexes so that the option of a combination of biomaterials is an alternative to results and offers greater potential for regenerative therapy organ tissues around the teeth, and represents a new method of regeneration.
Conclusions: The enamel matrix derivated is considered a biomaterial with potential in regenerative stimulation and combination with biomaterials such as allografts and alloplastic represent efficient options to achieve the restoration by regenerating bone and periodontal tissue.
