ABSTRACT
When speaking of hyperbaric oxygen, almost immediately negative opinions and condemnations poured in advance, including in many cases without knowing the scientific basis on which it rests. When a technology is known to cause distrust and not understand it and study it in depth, it is easier to disqualify. This paper aims to present the most relevant general aspects of hyperbaric medicine, from its historical background, its scientific basis, and their mechanisms of action, current indications and studies of evidence-based medicine for indications for patients with diabetic foot serious infection.
