ABSTRACT
Giant cell tumor of bone accounts 5% of primary bone tumors. Its three main locations are the distal femur, proximal tibia (knee 50%) and distal radius (10%). Although proximal fibula is not considered so as a frequent special, should be the first differential diagnosis in a litic, geographic and expansible lesion at this level. There are two types of oncological resections which, one by manipulation, and another for inclusion in the surgical specimen of common peroneal nerve, may cause drop foot and steppage march transient or permanent, as the case. There are surgical methods of correction and orthotic methods, that are not generally well accepted by patients, minimizing the functional sequel. The patient must be perfectly informed of this possibility before any surgical procedure.
