ABSTRACT
The carcinoid tumor of ovary is rare (1%), being a slow growth tumor, generally being well differentiated, which can stay without diagnosis for many months or even years before having metastatized. The most severe complicacion of this tumor is a carcinoic crisis. The diagnosis is done with tumoral biomarkers including neuronal specific enolase, chromogranine Q, seric serotonine, and 5 H-hidroxiindolacetic acid. The treatment requires energic management with ocreotid. When this crsis is not diagnosed and treat on time, the mortality is higher. Here we describe a clinical case of a 59 year old woman with clear menifestations of the carcinoid syndrome, including cardiac affection and renal insufficiency.
