ABSTRACT
Comprehensive geriatric assessment is a response to diseases affecting the elderly that may go undetected in a traditional medical history. It includes a dynamic and structured process to detect and quantify problems, needs and abilities in clinical, functional, mental and social areas. An essential part of geriatric assessment deals with function, which evaluates the role of diseases in the capability to perform common activities. The detection and timely management of alterations in the biological, psychological, familiar and social spheres in older adults is helpful in developing strategies to maintain their independence and good self-reported quality of life.
