ABSTRACT
Deficiency sex hormones in men and women cause a decrease in bone mass. It has been demonstrated that estrogens inhibit bone resorption and stimulate the osteoblasts actions. So in the sudden deprivation of these women during menopause, generate this loss faster in the first five years. Instead, this hormone decrement, also progressive but slow in male, make this bone loss linear and less abrupt than in women. For this reason, the prevention and/or treatment of osteoporosis, further the inclusion of any inhibiting agent of the resorption, should consider this aspect in both sexes.
