ABSTRACT
Tobacco smoking is a Public Health problem and an important cause of mortality and morbility. In Mexico, the health institutions which offer prevention and treatment of tobacco smoking require close coordination an linking of their actions and resources. With the aim of making the health services regarding smoking cessation programs available to all individuals, families and the community, we propose a model for treatment of tobacco smoking. This model suggests three different levels to approach smokers to quit smoking. The advantage of this model is that both smokers with and without government medical insurance could obtain specialized attention.
