ABSTRACT
Pulmonary nocardiosis is a sporadic disease, without age or ethnic prevalence, but the incidence in immunocompromised patients is approximately 0-20%. It can appear as a suppurative acute infection, subacute or chronic. Inhalation or skin inoculations of this pathogen are the most frequent routes of infection. It can be localized in the skin or lymphocutaneous tissue. The primary infection of the pulmonary system is manifested as multiple necrotic abscesses; it can also involve the central nervous system and other organs. After the initial infection the organisms tend to disseminate, especially in severe immunocompromised patients. We present a patient with pulmonary nocardiosis at our radiology department, as well as a review of the literature.
