ABSTRACT
Platelet dysfunction is a major bleeding cause in surgical patients with normal preoperative and coagulation tests. Platelet dysfunction may be associated to congenital platelet disorders, storage pool problems or to platelet function acquired diseases, usually related to several drug or substance use. An easy way to detect these alterations in high-risk patients is through an aggregometry assay, being a low-cost and easy-to-interpret lab test.
