ABSTRACT
Objective: Comparing variables on patients with respiratory allergy from Tehuacan City and Camagüey City, using the Prick test.
Method and materials: It was made a descriptive study on 195 patients with respiratory allergy from each one of both cities. The sample was taken with the purpose of knowing the behavior of the test of cutaneous puncture with
Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus in the groups of patients using mites extract from BioCen Laboratory in Cuba and Rocel Laboratory in Mexico. Age, sex and kind of pathology were the variables involved, as well as positivity percentage and the measurement of the hives in both groups.
Results: Bronchial asthma was the most prevalent disease in the Allergology Service in Camagüey and Tehuacan, with 106 y 93 patients respectively, in which age from 5 to 15 years were the ones with most presentation. Female sex was predominant in Allergology Services from both cities. The distribution of positive tests on the patients in order of the measurement of the hives were 4.5 and 4.8 mm in Camagüey and Tehuacan respectively.
Conclusions: In both cities the biggest amount of patients with positive tests to
Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus were in the age from 12 to 15 years, being bronchial asthma the most common motive of consult in Camagüey and Tehuacan. Female patients predominated in the consults. In the sample from Tehuacan the tests were positive to
Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus in a bigger amount of patients than those from Camagüey, being the mean measurement of the hives similar for both groups of patients, lightly predominating in Tehuacan.
