ABSTRACT
Objectives: To determine the biochemical parameters, the level of knowledge and the quality of life in group of patients with diabetes mellitus 2 who attended CMD «Dr. Ignacio Chávez», ISSSTE, after a year and haven been given them the «Course for diabetic patients» and to compare them with those who had been observed after six months of this study.
Design: Prospective, longitudinal, comparative, quasi-experiment and clinical study.
Material and methods: The patients who received the course were found as well as the control group to obtain a sample of 21 patients for the first one and 17 for the second one, the questionnaires IMEVID and of the level of knowledge as well as glucose, cholesterol and triglicerides sericeous measurements were applied. The information was stored in the SPSS V.12 Program.
Results: With regard to the glucose serious values of the 3 samples, it was found statistically meaningful differences (p = 0.004) while that for the same variable but in the control group it was not found any differences (p › 0.05). As the total value of cholesterol as the triglicerides in the 3 measurements, in any of the 2 groups were not found statistically meaningful differences. For all the dimensions of the IMEVID excepting consumption of tobacco and alcohol as well as in the questionnaires of the level of knowledge in the studied group statistically meaningful differences were present between the first and second evaluation with an improvement in the quality of life according to IMEVID and the level of knowledge, however, for the third evaluation the mean ranks for practically all the dimensions again decreased.
Conclusions: After a year of the application of the «Course for diabetic people» the control of the glucose was worst, the quality of life and the level of knowledge decreased.
