In order to find out the frequency of
Giardia sp, a trial was carried out in different species of domestic animals. Faeces were collected from 86 dogs, 137 calves, 115 sheep, 105 pigs, 45 faeces mixture of rabbits and 87 chicken faeces mixture. These samples were checked by direct examination and the concentration technique. The most parasited animals were the calves (18.24%), then the dogs (10.46%), sheep (6.95%) and pigs (2.85%). Rabbits and chicken were not positive to
Giardia sp and none of the employees that work directly with these animals have suffered this parasitosis and have not shown typical
Giardia sp disease signs.
