ABSTRACT
Behçet´s disease is a systemic vasculitis usually involves eyes, skin, joints, the oral cavity, blood vessels and central nervous system. Infectious agents, immune mechanisms and genetic factors are implicated in the etiopathogenesis of the disease, which remains to be elucidated. The aims of this study was to describe the clinical manifestations of the Behçet´s disease in pediatric patients of the “Instituto Nacional de Pediatría”. We realized retrolectivo study, comparative and cross-sectional. We revised medical records of the children with Behcet´s disease since January 1988 to December 2001. All patients presented oral ulcerations, 6 patients with genital ulcerations, but none patient presented eye lesions. Others manifestations were: skin manifestations in 9 patients, fever in 8, arthritis in 4, ulcerative colitis in 1 and one patient was central nervous system involvement. With talidomida use, to return of the ulcers was minor and less frequently. Four patients treated with talidomida for two years no presented return of the ulcers.REFERENCES
