ABSTRACT

This article begins with a review of the concept of learning, with an emphasis on significant learning. Subsequently, an analysis is undertaken of two strategies frequently used in the field of medical education, which allow achieving significant learning: 1. Independent learning, which also responds to students and health professionals permanent need to keep up-to-date, and 2. Collaborative learning as a way to learn complex information and attain higher accomplishments in problem solution.
